nuclear disarmament what has happened
Reflection: So 20 years ago are government all ways keep stopping nuclear weapons being made but now we are doing almost everything but nuclear weapons. now we are using nuclear power plants and nuclear engines but we still are using nuclear materials and people don't like that
Evidence: their have been 11 treaties against nuclear disarmament since 1963 and the one that stops nuclear testing is called compressive test ban treaty, then the one that stopped long range missiles is intermediate-range nuclear forces treaty

what should you do?
Reflection: I think the easiest way to not have anymore nukes is just saying we don't need this many all we need is one and why keep testing them when it's a waste of are materials. then everyone sees why we don't need the nukes or anything with nuclear energy at all. I'm against nuclear weapons and i think the way to see results are to have meets and see how everyone feels about nukes.
Evidence: would be from my other post where kids went to a meeting with the CIF and then they shut down 2 nuclear testing sites which i thought was something that would have made me proud if i was part of that meeting.

nuclear missile test north korea
Reflection: I think that North Korea is dangerous to everyone, people should be aware of what they are doing and how it will affect everyone that can hear about their nuclear habits. They are 2 things I can think of that North Korea is doing. Number one is they are doing nuclear missile tests and two they are telling the world they are test nuclear missiles and how powerful the missiles are.
Evidence: "We have successfully conducted another nuclear test on May 25 part of the republic's measures to strengthen it's nuclear deterrent".
McCurry Justin, Branigan Tania, North Korea tests nuclear weapon as powerful as Hiroshima bomb
nuclear disarmament russian high schools
Reflection: i think that these kids did a great thing because high school students helped get rid of some nuclear equipment sites but it only took one meeting to do this which i think is a huge accomplishment for this high school students.

what is nuclear disarmament
reflection: i see what they mean when they don't want to use that kind of weapon but it is important to be able to fight back or just have a weapon like that so people don't use theirs, their should have never been weapons made that could destroy city's by only being used once i think but someone thought it should be made or it would have never been used or invented.

A Real Story about Nuclear Disarmament
Reflaction: I think that becuase of nuclear Disarmament that people are mean and cruel to others and never get along with another person. Then because people go to this place named Gaza and try to make nuclear disarmament better and then they see what it is like for people to try and get rid of nukes, but it just makes it worse it seems like they should and try to fix the people before their problems.

chapters 28-31 from perstive from jem
so me and scout left are house. then we started over to the schoolhouse and then we finally got their scout said she left her money at home so i said but Atticus didn't i gave her 30 cents then left her with Cecil Jacobs and i went to blob for apples. then i saw a couple of the kids in the pageant going that way so i looked for a sit as close as i could but it started and i gave up. i was watching the pageant and it looked like someone was late. it turned out to be scout but it didn't make too much of a differences. Then it was over shortly so i looked for scout when i found her there wasn't to many people left so we left and it was pinch black we went maybe 15 yards and scout said i left my shoes. o the lights just went out you can get them tomorrow. so we started walking again and i heard something so i said don't move and what ever it stopped too. then scout said it's probably just Cecil so scout called out hey Cecil is a fat hen. then i yelled hello no answers so scout asked me if i was scared, i said no so we went again then we stopped and it didn't so i said run i was running as fast as i could then i heard Jem help scout had fallen i ran back picked her up the sound was getting closer and closer i looked back then got knocked down and i heard a scream and fell asleep woke up in my bed and someone was messing with my are and it hurt so i kicked him and he did something then fell back to sleep the last thing i heard was about persecuting me.

journal #4- Chapters 10-12 from the perspective of Jem
When I woke up I thought what does Atticus do and their was really nothing then his job and he reads when he gets home so I emerge from bed and scout was already awake and she was thinking the same so we went to miss Maudies house to talk about the stuff Atticus does and she says he was a great checkers player but scout said we all ways beat him. Then she says he lets you win. then me and scout goes back to are house to get the air rifles to go explore behind the radley house and 600 hundred yards out I see something so I crouch down and look. Then scout asks what is it and I say it looks like Tim Johnson the dog and he looks hurt. Then when me and scout got back to are house we told Cal about Tim Johnson the dog and she keep saying she can't fix a dogs foot but I said no he looks sick so we went and found him again she said hurry get back to the house and it was mad dog or something I didn't understand that fast so Cal started calling the sheriff and all the nebors but the radleys didn't have a phone so Cal went and yelled but I don't think anyone heard. Then she came back and stayed with us. sometime later Atticus and the sheriff got to the house but the sheriff didn't know how to shoot so he gave his rifle to Atticus but they got in a argument but the sheriff shoved Atticus with the gun into the street and then he was aiming and walking up to the dog then when the dog looked up it leap then a gunshot rattled in my ears. Then everyone started to walk out of their houses and I went out and the dog died fast is what everyone was saying. Then we were told to not go near where the dog is and then the trash man came to get it and then he poured something on the ground and we were told again not to even go near where the dog was for awhile. Then when me and scout finally noticed are dad was a really good shot then scout was like she had to tell everyone but I said no he didn't tell us he doesn't want people to know. Then the day was over and it was time to go to town because I had a lot of money. Me and scout both wanted something from town so we started too town when we had to pass by Ms.Doubose house and she was on her porch. So I said don't be afraid scout but Ms.Doubose did the same thing she always does when we walk by she called as trash like always but this time she was saying how Atticus was a negro lover and I was think about that until we got to the store then I bought my train and scouts twirl. Then we were walking back to are house when we bought what we needed. We passed Ms.Doubose house but this time she wasn’t on the porch so I took scouts almost destroyed twirler and I was cutting down Ms.Doubose plants when I was done I broke scouts twirler and went back told scout to shut up and she didn’t so I pushed her over and she still didn’t so I grabbed her by the hair then started home. Scout looked like I was in peril with everything I had done. When we got home scout was trying everything she could to make me feel better but it was contradict everything I did. When Atticus got home I wished he was inaudible so I didn’t have to listen to him but I was angry so he was inconspicuous. But what I did hear was I had to read to her for one month I thought I was going to die from this. But I went anyway I read to her and she looked out of it at the end. Then she was like that everyday until I noticed it was longer everyday then the month was over and she said one more week and Atticus said ok one more week I was about to hurt him I was so angry. I read to her for the last week then their was a phone call when I was all done and atticus went over and he came back to say Ms. Doubose was died and he said before she died she had this candy box made for me so I opened it and it was a chamomile flower I went berserk thought the box in the fire and went to sleep.

I went to the Radley's house to hear the news that Mrs. Radley died of natural causes. When I came back home Jem and Scout asked how she had died. The children were hoping for a different answer than a natural cause and they loooked like they were debating other ways she could have died before I walked in. Scout went to brush her teeth and then she screamed, Atticus help me the world is ending. When I got there I told her it's just snow! I can't remember the last time it snowed. The phone rang and Eula May said, no school today. The last time it snowed was 1885 in Maycomb County. Jem and Scout went outside and I went to work. Hours later, I got a call from the kids saying they had a surprise when I got home. They made a great snowman that looked like Mr. Avery. I told them to disguise it, so he would not get mad.
That night, I woke Scout and Jem up at one o'clock and I tell them to put on their bathrobe and coat. Scout keeps on asking, is it morning. I reply by saying it is not morning. They know something is wrong. We go outside and see the fire at Mrs. Maudie's house. I try to isolate the children to stay in front of the Radley house so they didn't get in the way of the adults, while I go help move furniture from the burning house. When I get back to the kids after the three fire trucks arrive, I notice that the firemen are working hard on the other house on the block. Mrs. Maudie looks like she is moping so I tell the kids not to talk to her. Back in our house I notice that Scout has a blanket and I told you not to move. Scout says that she did not move from the area. . I think Boo Radley entrusted Scout with the blanket. I was perplexed that either Boo or Nathan Radley would protect my children.
Scout came home from school upset that Atticus was defending a negro in court. I am a lawyer that defends all people and everyone deserves a fair trial. I would be embarrassed not to defend a victim that needs my help and who is ingenuous. Scout don't say or do anything with the kids at school. Just keep your mouth shut because a lot of talk will be going on while I am defending a negro in court. I came out on the porch and I saw Francis crying, and my brother Uncle Jack were talking. I tried to find out what is going on . Scout came running to me and I comforted her. This will be a tough time for the family while the trial is on. I was disappointed with what Scout was telling me. I tell her it comes down to the African American man to the Ewell's word.

Journal #2- Chapters 4-7 from the perspective of Dill
When I first got off the train at Maycomb junction my aunt Rachel was there with a cab. Then the cab took us to Aunt Rachel's house I saw scout and Jem they looked like they were waiting for me but I didn't know. Then when I got out of the car they came over and I said I rode the train by myself and my dad was the president of the L&N railroad.
Then we talked about what we wanted to play but I didn't want to play anything they said until scout wanted to roll in a tire. Then Jem argued because he couldn't fit in the tire but scout said you can push so scout started off and then the tire and she fell in the Radley's front yard.So then Calpurnia called out lemonade and we went over and drank 2-3 glasses and Jem said I got a new game. The game was to play Boo Radley. So we played it everyday but one day we were so in to it they we didn't see Atticus and he called us over and asked us what we were playing and Jem said nothing until Atticus left. We knew he could hear us so we stopped playing.
My last night in Maycomb county i was with my aunt at her fish pool. Before i leave i wanted to see Boo Radley so me and Jem were going to the window that was kind of open. so we went underneath the wired fence and a creak came from it so we spit on it and went up to the window but i didn't See anything so i said back window but both of then said no but we went any way so we crawled to the window and saw a man's shadow that had a hat on. but then we went running away when we heard a gunshot and me and scout looked back and Jem wasn't there so we went back to find him caught in the fence. then when he got out we went running to the school oak tree the to deer's pasture and then climbed the back fence to Jem's house and were finally safe.
Then the day was over and I left for home.

Starting at Chapter 2
When I first came to the room I looked at my 1st graders and they all stared at me when I was saying I'm from North Alabama. They all in shock because of how different it was to Maycomb County. I began the day reading a story to the class and Scout says she knows how to read so, I have her read,my First Reader and the Mobile Register. I try to have a compromise with Scout by saying her dad will not teach her anymore because I'm the teacher. Scout says my dad didn't teach me he doesn't have time to teach me. Scout tries to persevere with this arguement so I patted her hand with a ruler and made her stay in a corner until the bell rang at noon. When the class comes back from break I find Scout writing a letter and I say, tell your dad to stop teaching you, I'm the teacher. I will teach the class from now on, I say you will print in my class.
I will ask Walter if he had a lunch and he shakes his head and so I pull a quarter out of my purse and say Walter come and grab it and he shakes his head again so I say tomorrow you just pay me back and he still shakes his head. Then scout stands up and makes a speech of how the Cunninghams will not be able to pay her back and I thought she was being meant on Walter so I had Scout come up to the classroom and I patted her hand 6 times with a ruler and the class was laughing so I used intimdation and the class was quiet for the rest of the day then I could finally teah with no interruptions.
Then after the kids come back from lunch I see this thing in my class room I thought it was died until I saw it move it was a child named Burris. I was telling him, he had to go home and bath and he was saying he wasn't going home and then Little Chuck Little said he would hurt him unless he left the school, then he looked scared so I said, sit back down in your sit then all the kids in the class room gave me a malevolent stare and I was irked. Then, Burris called me a slut schoolteacher and he waited until I was crying to leave. Then all the kids in my class room were around me and tried to make me feel better and they asked me to read a story to them so, I blew my nose and started reading until the bell rang.

Daniel Lofy Immigrant Project Reflection
Literature Circle Books/Blogs
My experience with Hello America was an interesting choice of books to read because it showed what an immigrant had to go through coming to a new country and their experiences both positive and negative. Hello America was based upon the ideals of immigrants and how they handled their journey and their new life in a different country. I thought I choose a good book because it fit the topic and theme of immigration. This is what we were studying in class over the past several months. My choice was excellent! I learned how hard it is for immigrants to come to a new country with nothing except their families, sometimes they even came alone. Elli came with her mom and they had to adjust to their new home, culture, and way of life. It was not easy for her and her mom to adjust to a new country and new traditions.
Besides answering questions, writing blogs and making your own questions, I think it would be helpful if the group met to discuss each chapter. It would be easier if we met right after reading the chapter to discuss the theme, plot, setting and character issues. Another way to improve the process would be to discuss the questions as a group and also talk about each chapter efficiently. I like the fact that we each wrote about the chapter blog and got to see how the entire group was thinking, by the questions they asked. Sometimes I thought I didn’t have to write so much because each chapter shouldn’t be presented exactly the same way. You had to do the same thing over and over again. It would be more creative to do different assignments for each blog. Overall I did not have any problems writing my blog, except one time when my internet had a failure. I thought it was good that my group gave a variety of questions. It made me look at the book in a different view. It opened my eyes to the way others viewed the book by the questions they asked. It made me think more about the book and what Elli was feeling.
Art and Literature
I want to do the painting about the book cover, but I had to do the theme of the book because too many people in my group picked it. I could not choose the one I wanted so I did not like the outcome of my painting. My painting was on the theme of the book. My theme was about a new life, but my painting did not reflect that theme. I do not feel there was a connection between my art piece and Hello America because I just don’t think my painting turned out great. I have a hard time with art, because I am not that creative. I don’t feel it turned out as well as I would have liked it because I wish I would have put more detail into the art piece. It should of popped out more and be more vivid with color and outlined. I did not like to connect my experience with the book to the piece of art. I had a difficult time drawing my theme to the book. My theme was too hard for me to do a good job at. Next time I would prefer not to do this assignment, but if I had to, then I would try harder to put more time and effort into my work.
Interview Process with Participant and Gift
I thought the interview process went well because I knew the person. I knew her because she is one of my friend’s grandmothers. She came from the east part of Malaysia. The interview went smoothly because she wanted to be interviewed and was happy to tell her story to me. She spoke English at the age of thirteen and was clear to understand. I met with her three times, each time asking her questions about her life and experiences. I also emailed her and spoke with her on the phone. I feel that when you are learning about someone’s life it is important to meet with them face to face. You had to develop trust and mutual respect. I met her in the second grade when I was at my friend’s house. At that time I called her Popo, so did all of her grandson’s friends. Her really name is Tsai Ying Ying, but now most everyone calls her by her baptism name Helen. The face to face interview was the best way to get to know an immigrant and hear her story. The first interview was face to face and I learned her real name and it meant a singing bird. The second interview was the email and I just asked her more questions. I had email her daughter because Helen doesn’t know how to use a computer or have any technology skills. The daughter responded with answering all the questions and sent us many pictures of her mother and her in Malaysia. The third interview I found out that she loves The Walton Series based in the southern part of the US. I learned that she has always lived along the coast in Malaysia and now near the coast of the Pacific Ocean. At the fourth interview, she realized what I was putting together and she gave me more pictures about her past life including her wedding picture, pictures of her daughters when they were really young. I felt she was trusting me with her valuable possessions and had hope that I would complete an album for her. I learned from a now time, by interviewing an immigrant who gave to this country how difficult and different it is to be an immigrant. It made it easier for me to understand how Elli felt coming to America. An immigrant has to learn a new way of life, culture, language and society. When I showed her part of the album she was fearful that other students in my class might destroy it or damage her pictures. In my last interview I showed her the actual scrapbook and she was amazed and full of joy. The scrapbook is has 18 pages of her life starting with her life as a young women, her family life in Malaysia, her life now in San Diego California to her being coming a citizen of United States.
Overall Reflection
These three projects reflected what immigration is all about in detail. I learned a great deal about immigration through each project. Each project had a different way of presenting material with the common theme of immigration.

hello #6
Quote#1" I promised mom I would be back with in the hour. I'm afraid it's past the deadline. I must get home." pg#168-169 Said by Elli.
Significance How do Americans treat Elli? I choose this quote and I think it relates to this question because it shows that Elli's mom doesn't want her to get hurt so she wants her to come back at the curfew. This is important to Elli's mom because she knows she is safe and can help her when she comes home. Elli shows she is true to her word by coming home at the time she said she would and that she follows her mom's directions. Elli can be trusted and that is impotant to her and mother.
Personal connection My connection to this is that my parents want me home to at a certain time because I can help them with work around the house or be with my family for meal time. Then when I do come home on time they know I'm safe and that I'm not hurt.
Question My question is have you ever had a curfew and not came on time and got in trouble?
Quote#2 "To a new life in America!" pg#176 said by Elli's mother
Significance Why have Elli and her mom come to America? This quote I think really relates to that question because it shows what they went through to have a new life. In that one quote it shows that Elli and her mom came to America lived in America and got a new home in America for a new life. This Quote shows that even though Elli and her mom went through bad times they now have better lives and will be able to try new things.
Personal connection My personal connection is when I came to HTM, I got a new life and I learned new things. I met new people and I tried new things at my new school.
Question Was there a time in your life when you got something that changed your life and if you did, tell me what it was?

blog #5
this is important because this shows they are trying to keep their home clean and not destroy it early. This is a Quote that shows they are changing their ways and getting more to help them live life. connection i have got lots of things that i didn't need in life like video games so this can help me past time but sometimes I buy things for scouts or school so it can help me in the future.
Question #2 have you ever bought something that you needed to show off or to past time?

Hello America #4
This is important because it shows she is tired and scared at night. When someone calls her on the phone no one is there and she is scared. This is important because it shows us she is getting kind of scared in America. My connection is sometimes when I'm home alone and the phone rings and I pick it up sometimes nobody is there and I get scared of what happened. Then I kind of not like answer the phone after that until like someone comes home.
Question #1 Has anyone ever called your house and nobody was there and how did you feel after that happened?
Quote #2 " It's nothing short of a miracle!" pg 172 by Aunt Celia
This is a miracle to Elli's mom and aunt because they needed a new place to live because one they didn't have that much room and 2 they needed a better place then were they were living.
Then with a new house comes a new life for Elli and her mom. My connection is that when I moved to San Diego I met new people and came to a new school. Then it gave me a new life and a new place to explore.
Question #2 Have you ever moved to a new place and if you have tell me more about how it was when you came to that new place?

hello america #3
this is going to have Elli go to school and then she is going to get a education. Then it can help Elli get a better job. i think this is a really good think for Elli to do because then she can get a education and get a job. With her choosing to go to school she might just be able to get her and her mom to be able to live in a better environment.my Question have you or your family had a hard time getting into school.
Quote#2 This number was put on my arm in Auschwitz by people like you. sayed by Elli pg # 146 This is important because it does show that she still remembers this and she can't forget what happened in Germany. i think that she really proved a point to that women say you aren't Jewish but you are German because this woman doesn't know what Jews went thought in Germany. My personal connection is that a long time ago i was brothered by what that person said and i yelled back to like Elli but i wasn't as angry. My question is that have anyone ever been really offended by what someone said about you?

blog #2 hello america
They are finding out that in the new world or America that not everyone is that nice.
i have no room to move... no room to breathe... no air in this wagon. this is important because this is how Ellis life is going to be for years and it might not get beater until they have their own wagon. Then this is how it's going to be no matter where they are. My connection with this is that every time i go camping i have to be with other people and my gear and it is hard to move. My question is have you ever been stuck in a car/wagon and not been able to move.

field trip reflection
Part#2 1The photo I choose was Chinatown and what I saw was two little girls and a men with a sword and a man with a food cart. This was interesting because it just popped into my head and it was hard for me to forget it.
2 My quote is how some immigrants come to Chicago and they are looking around and they stop on the freeway to look at the sky and where they live.
3 The essay I choose was about a Mexican girl that came to America in search of a new life and she's saying how shes going to try her best to keep America a good place and try to make her life well.
blog #1 hello america
Quote: "God almighty, you've got it bad! Poor devil, right at the start." Quote by captain McGregor, pg #10.
will I ever see u again. pg#16 elli
Elli's journey to America was diffcult becuse she was seasick the entire time on the boat and it never stopped for her. Elli had to stay in a special room where she wasn't seasick as much.
Even though Elli was seasick most of the trip, she was still able to walk around the boat looking at new scenes she hadn't seen before.
I have gone on boats my whole life since my family owns a large boat for fishing. I have never gotten seasick but I have seen a lot of scenes that Elli has experienced. One thing that we have in common is that we have both been on a boat for long periods of time.
question for my group: Have you ever gotten seasick on a boat before like Elli?
question for my group: do u think Elli is going to see him again
